  • ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS BFA

    Bachelor of Fine Arts in Film Directing

    All prospective candidates are required to submit the following:

    1. Short Biography/CV
    Your biography should include education, work experience/internships (if applicable), awards and certificates (if applicable)

    2. Letter of Motivation (between 500 and 1,000 words maximum) answering the question: Why I want to become a filmmaker?

    3. Photo story in 12 photographs
    Submit 12 photographs that represent a visual and narrative whole, conveying an event. An event does not need to signify action, but rather any observation that can be narrated. Your photographs should be numbered in succession of your narrative, or joined in collage.

    4. Synopsis of a film you want to make (up to one page)

    5. Short Essay (between 500 and 1500 words maximum) on the subject: An encounter I will never forget.

    6. Film or additional piece of visual work (optional, not mandatory)
    The candidates may submit any additional example representative of their visual sensibility, in any visual format.

    7. Certificates and Transcripts
    Please send copies of relevant certificates and academic transcripts, corresponding to your biography. All candidates must include a high-school diploma and diploma supplements (including grades transcripts for all academic years). International documents should be supplied both in original language and English.

    8. Copy of your passport

    Sarajevo Film Academy reserves the right to ask for additional materials and/or information from candidates of interest, with a timely notification.

  • ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS MFA

    Master of Fine Arts in Film Directing

    All prospective candidates are required to submit the following:

    1. Short Biography/CV
    Your biography should include education, work experience/internships, awards and certificates (if applicable). Please note that to qualify for our Master Degree Program you must have a fulfilled Bachelor degree.

    2. Filmography (list of titles with specified format and duration; with links to stream)
    Candidates must submit at least one short film of any genre where they are credited as director and/or cinematographer and/or editor.
    If you are submitting more than one required short, please be notified that your total submission should not exceed 90 minutes in length, and should not include more than a maximum of three shorts, or one full-length film.

    3. Letter of Motivation (between 500 and 1,000 words maximum) addressing, among other, the question: What does the art of filmmaking represent to me personally?

    4. Short Essay (between 500 and 1500 words maximum) on the subject: An encounter I will never forget.

    5. A piece of original writing in form of a cinematic treatment (film idea expressed in any manner: descriptive, synopsis, script) based on a novel (specify) or a short story (specify) or candidate’s own idea. Submit up to 3 pages maximum.

    6. Additional piece of visual work (not mandatory, optional)
    The candidates may submit any additional example representative of their visual sensibility, in any visual format.

    7. Certificates and Transcripts

  • ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS GAME DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT

    BSc in Game Design and Development

    The entrance exam for the multidisciplinary program in Game Design and Development (GDD) is consisted of:

    1. English language test
    In order to follow courses and coursework at University SSST, candidates must have an adequate knowledge of English language. The English entrance test, with a pass mark of 61%, is a requirement for all candidates.

    2. Math and logic test
    The entrance exam consists of 10 questions. Five questions are related to a pure mathematical field including: algebraic expressions, linear functions and equations, the application of linear equations, probability theory, and linear equation systems. The remaining five problems will relate to the following areas of logical thinking: logical reasoning, pattern completion, analytical reasoning, and number puzzle (table). The entrance exam in Mathematics and Logics, with a pass mark of 51%, is a requirement for all candidates.

    3. Synopsis of an idea for an original video game
    The candidates are required to submit a written synopsis of an idea for an original video game they want to design and develop. The synopsis should be in the range of 300 words minimum to 700 words maximum, and may include some of the following elements:

    • a summary of the storyline
    • explanation of the core idea and motivational background
    • description of visual style/language/game environment
    • description of leading character(s)
    • game platform
    • literary/graphic novel/philosophical or other references (if applicable).

    4. Storyboard
    The candidates are required to submit a storyboard of minimum 12 to maximum 30 panels, showing a visual and narrative progression of a representative scene from the game story. Points 3 and 4 should be submitted prior to the entrance examination by sending it to the email address gaming@ssst.edu.ba or at the entrance examination at the University SSST.

    5. Interview
    Candidates may also be asked to come in for an interview with a course professor and/or University administration, following the completion of entrance examination and submission of all required documentation. Candidates will be contacted via phone or email to schedule the interview date and time.

    All students are under obligation to pay tuition fees to one of the SSST University accounts. For this purpose, SSST Finance Office issues invoices with payment instructions and payment schedule, to each student, delivered to student’s email address.

    Tuition fee payments to the University SSST are not required in bulk, but are broken down in four semestral installments. The tuition fee payment schedule consists of installment amounts and their due dates, where the first installment is considered the Registration Fee and is not refundable.

    • First installment in the amount of 1.000,00 EUR - due date September 15th
    • Second installment in the amount of 1.000,00 EUR - due date December 15th
    • Third installment in the amount of 1.000,00 EUR - due date February 15th

    *In case a student decides to withdraw from the Program, the Registration Fee is not refundable.

    International students

    • Registration Fee* in the amount of 2.000,00 EUR - due date August 15th
    • First installment in the amount of 1.500,00 EUR - due date September 15th
    • Second installment in the amount of 1.500,00 EUR - due date December 15th
    • Third installment in the amount of 1.500,00 EUR - due date February 15th

    * In case a student decides to withdraw from the Program, the Registration Fee is not refundable.

    International students

    • Registration Fee* in the amount of 3.500,00 EUR - due date August 15th
    • First installment in the amount of 3.000,00 EUR - due date September 15th
    • Second installment in the amount of 3.000,00 EUR - due date December 15th
    • Third installment in the amount of 3.000,00 EUR - due date February 15th

    * In case a student decides to withdraw from the Program, the Registration Fee is not refundable.

    Failure to comply with above stated payment schedule may result in penalties, including possible suspension from class attendance, possible suspension from production facilities and/or activities, prevention from registration to the new academic semester/year and ultimately the possible loss of student status, i.e. expulsion.

    Please note that late payments, without a pre-approved change in payment schedule issued by the SSST Finance Office, will result in student being subject to additional fees, based on current interest rates in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
