With years of experience in various roles in the TV and film industry, Zeynep Özbatur Atakan is one of the most accomplished Turkish film producers. Having worked in the film industry for two decades, she is credited as producer on a number of successful and critically acclaimed films. Zeynep works repeatedly with Palme d'Or winning director Nuri Bilge Ceylan, with her credits including his Climates (2006), which won the FIPRESCI Award at Cannes Film Festival and received international prize by critics and experts, Three Monkeys (2008), for which Ceylan won the Best Director Award at Cannes film festival and festival favorites Once Upon A Time in Anatolia (2011). Her latest production Winter Sleep (2014) directed by Ceylan, won the most prestigious award at the 67th Cannes Film Festival, the Palme d'Or.
The founder of production company Zeyno Film, in 2010 Atakan was awarded the European Film Academy’s Best European Co-Producer award. In 2014, Zeynep started the Antalya Film Forum, a co-production and project development market organized as part of the International Antalya Film Festival, and continues to work as its director. She also organizes the Turkey section of the Young Audience Award, a project by the European Film Academy. Zeynep is the art director of the Sabancı Foundation Short Film Platform. Today, while she continues to produce films, Atakan is the Vice President of EWA (European Women’s Audiovisual Network), which works towards equal opportunities for women working in the audiovisual industries in Europe and around the world. She is a member of EFA (European Film Academy) and APSA (Asia Pacific Screen Academy).
