Study at SFA

The Sarajevo Film Academy has facilities both at the main University campus (located at a 20 min drive from city centre and housing the Academy's classrooms, lecture halls, editing facilities, production office and equipment lab) and in downtown Sarajevo, at off campus facilities, where some of the afternoon lectures, master-classes and screening can be held.

Our diverse student community allows for a unique experience, with both centralized services (Student Registry, Administration, Legal office, Finance Office and other), and services specific to each Department (such as the SFA Production Office, SFA Lab, Dean's Office and other). The main campus boats the most modern teaching facilities in the region and amenities such as a Restaurant and café with special student pricing. Construction of a new University's Research Centre is set to commence this year, as a multi-milion project, further enriching campus facilities, amenities and grounds.

The SFA equipment lab provides students with two RED ONE 4.5K digital cameras with Canon and cooke zoom lenses ranging from 18mm to 100mm, and additional equipment including shoulder mount and ND filters. Additionally students have the continuous use of three Camcorders of which two are Sony HXR NX-5 HD and one Canon XF100. One DSLR camera 4K Sony A7S2 with Carl Zeiss lenses is also available in-house.

Our sound equipment consists of SANKEN, RODE and SENNHEISER microphones with their accessories and TASCAM sound recorders in several different sizes. At student's disposal is lighting equipment ranging from 150W to 800W. Film sets are further provided with camera equipment including grip as well as lighting equipment in range up to 2.500W, as well as additional professional equipment as needed. The school is committed to continual updating and improvement of its production capacities.

The Sarajevo Film Academy employs a number of professional production and support staff, including a full-time driver to aid student projects in production. Six post-production units are open at all times, of which two are MacPro’s with Black Magic video cards, and four High End i7 PC units, allowing students at two academic levels to choose according to their preferences in post-production unit suits.

The fully equipped cinema room has the seating capacity of 50 seats and ability to screen 4K films in all formats with sound surround system.

Our highly selective process ensures small classes and a close working relationship with academic and support staff alike.
